In
2000 Giben introduced the PM System,
a breakthrough in panel sizing.
|
By
this innovation Giben won the "Challengers Award"
at IWF 2000 (Atlanta, USA), the industry's highest honor
recognized worldwide for best advancements in technology
in the woodworking machinery field.
The PM System (PM stands for "Pinze Mobili", in
English: Moving Grippers) is a new and revolutionary system
of moving grippers using controlled positioning, integrated
in a process of high automation, to add the maximum flexibility
to the production environment.

The
PM System uses two types of grippers:
The "X" type gripper only moves along the width of the
pusher. The "XY" type gripper moves along the width of
the pusher but can also move perpendicular to it, and therefore
can adjust the positioning of a stack of panels or strips at a distance
from the cut line different from the distance determined by the
"X" type grippers.
These grippers position automatically, controlled by the saw computer.
The position is always optimized depending on the job, the size
of the boards, the cut sequence, the size of the strips, or the
size of the parts |
